It was a Mocha Frappucino in Munich. My first experience of Starbucks. By the time I had my last sip, I was in love.

That love has grown stronger throughout the past years in trips to Paris (Caramel Frappucino), Barcelona (Caffe Misto) and London (Cinnamon Dolce Latte). However, as much as I love traveling, these trips have burned a hole in my wallet and now I need Starbucks to come to me.

So you can imagine my excitement when I heard that Starbucks is coming to Finland!!

OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But wait, the airport? In VANTAA??? Where’s the shop in Kamppi I had already planned spending my afternoons at?

Not being ready to give up my future afternoon plans, I decided to make a new plan. A plan for Starbucks in Finland. Now you’re probably thinking, “why should Starbucks, the major global company, listen to some poor guy from Finland?”. Here’s why: I am a customer. A devoted customer. Even I know that customer is always right. Besides, as a 3rd year marketing major, I’m practically a pro.

The Coffee Team

Coffee should be black as hell, strong as death and sweet as love.
                                                                                             - Turkish proverb

The Coffee Team consists of seven members: Maria Boychenko, Leino Helena,Elina Timonen, Janina Åhlgren,  Sanna Lipponen, Wang Si and Tony Rantala.

The team explores the market entry possibilities of Starbucks in Finland and develops possible strategies for the entry. Starbucks is good research subject as it is a global firm about to enter the Finnish market. We are able to easily find information of the company and the market, and as Starbucks enters Finland, we can compare what we have formulated as a strategy with the real world actions of the company.
